DEFINITION OF RECOUNT TEXT
Recount text is a text which retells events or expreriense in the past. It may our or someone’s experiences. There’s no complication among the participants and that differentiates from narrative.
GENERIC STRUCTURE OF RECOUNT
1. Orientation :
It given the reader the background information needed to understand the text
such as who was involved, where it happened, when it happened, and why it
happened.
2. Events : A
series of event, ordered in a chronological sequence. When we telling the
events, we may use connective words, such as a few minutes later, then,
finnaly, after that, the next day, meanwhile, and afterwards.
3. Re-orientation :
Retates the writer’s opinion or personal coment of the writer on the incident.
LANGUAGE FEATURE OF RECOUNT
- Using simple past tense
- Introducing personal participant
Example: I, my group, etc.
- Using chronological connection
Example: Then, first, etc.
- Using linking verb
Example: was, were, saw, heard, etc.
- Using action verb
Example: look, go, change, etc.
